Dialysis

The Dialysis Unit, a satellite centre for St Vincent’s Hospital, provides haemodialysis for people in Central and East Gippsland as well as visitors to the region. There is an emphasis on education and training of patients and staff, and involvement in community health awareness programs.

Medical Imaging

The Medical Imaging Department has a range of modern equipment that helps provide excellent services to the local community.

The services currently available include:

  • CT scanning
  • Ultrasounds with colour doppler and a wide range of probes to cover all examinations
  • Nuclear Medicine
  • Screening and Diagnostic Mammography
  • General radiology and screening
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

The qualified and experienced staff provide high quality radiological services to the community on a 24 hour on-call basis.

Oncology

The newly renovated Oncology Department operates within the hospital to provide support and administer chemotherapy treatments to patients. It works in close association with the Medical Unit, Central Gippsland Health  Palliative Care Services, and the Gippsland Regional Integrated Cancer Service.

A palliative care facility located in the Medical Unit is available to patients who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness, where family and carers who wish to continue caring for the patient receive appropriate nursing support.

 

Pharmacy

The Pharmacy Department is staffed by pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. The department is open from 8.30am until 5pm Monday to Friday, with an on-call pharmacist providing after hours and weekend services.

The wide range of services offered include:

  • Imprest drug distribution
  • Clinical ward pharmacy services
  • IV additives and Parental Nutrition
  • Cytotoxic drug preparations e.g. chemotherapy
  • Radiopharmaceutical preparations
  • Drug information
  • Drug trials
  • Outpatient dispensing
  • Medical and nursing staff education
  • Support pharmacy services to smaller hospitals and private hostels

 

Pathology (provided by Gippsland Pathology)

The Pathology Department provides a range of diagnostic tests to both inpatient and community based patients.

The department is open for outpatients from 8am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.

An after hours ‘on-call’ service is provided to the hospital.
