Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is seeking community members interested in joining a focus group to assist with implementing its Disability Action Plan.

CGH aims to provide a health service that is inclusive to people with a disability by assisting and supporting patients, clients, staff and volunteers to feel welcome and safe.

Director Community Services at CGH, Mandy Pusmucans, said it was now time to set up a focus group, comprising staff and community members, to oversee the development and finalisation of the plan and its implementation.

“We are assessing ourselves against the four key outcomes embedded in the Victorian Government’s Office of Disability, Department of Planning and Community Development guide to disability action plans,” Ms Pusmucans said.

The four key outcomes are:

  1. reducing barriers to persons with a disability accessing goods, services and facilities;
  2. reducing barriers to persons with a disability obtaining and maintaining employment;
  3. promoting inclusion and participation in the community of persons with a disability; and
  4. achieving tangible changes in attitudes and practices which discriminate against persons with a disability.

“We want to ensure that our plan has a positive effect on health and wellbeing outcomes for our community who live with a disability,” Ms Pusmucans said.

If you are interested in participating in the focus group, contact Jude Deedman at jude.deedman@cghs.com.au or call 5143 8833 by close of business Friday 30 November.
