    SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM MS MICHELE GARDNER, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER Michele has more than 34 years of service across Tertiary/Quaternary, Regional and Subregional public and private healthcare and Department of Justice settings, across three states of Australia. She is an Intensive Care/Critical Care qualified Registered Nurse and has extensive experience with the successful implementation of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, accreditation and quality improvement in acute and community settings. Michele holds post-graduate qualifications in a Master of Public Administration and a Graduate Diploma in Health Counselling. She has led both public and private hospitals, major infrastructure redevelopment and successful operational commissioning expertise in both brownfield and greenfield health sites; and has experience in strategic and service planning, quality and safety, risk management, clinical and corporate governance. Previously, Michele served as Executive Director of The Prince Charles Hospital, Metro North Hospital and Health Service Brisbane, where she held the overall strategic and operational responsibility for this major tertiary level health service and referral center for Queensland. Michele has undertaken Acting CEO roles at Bairnsdale Regional Health Service and Mallacoota District Health; Executive Director roles in Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service and Wide Bay Hospital; and both large and diverse public regional and rural Queensland health services. Having spent many years working in Queensland, Michele also has a strong understanding of Local Health Service Networks and the importance of collaboration across services. Michele also has extensive experience in leading emergency management responses to bushfires, floods, cyclones and the COVID-19 pandemic. Michele has a deep focus on quality, patient-centered care and partnering and collaborating for future growth. MS MANDY PUSMUCANS, DIRECTOR OF NURSING/CHIEF NURSE Mandy is a registered nurse with additional qualifications in rural health and business management. Following a working life that commenced in Gippsland, Mandy worked in Melbourne hospitals, rural Victoria and then on to remote Australia, which included living and working in both remote Aboriginal communities in Central Australia and the main centre of Alice Springs. Mandy’s work has focused on social justice and equity of access for rural and remote communities, with particular focus on Aboriginal Australians. Mandy has been both an executive officer and then Board member of the Council of Remote Area Nurses Australia, a participant on the Council of the National Rural Health Alliance, and a member of the Royal College of Nursing Australia. DR DIVYANSHU DUA, DIRECTOR MEDICAL SERVICES Dr Divyanshu ‘Divy’ Dua is Director of Medical Services at the Central Gippsland Health Service. Additionally, he is a visiting medical oncologist at the Latrobe Regional Health Service. He also holds the clinical dean position with the Monash Rural, Sale campus. A consultant medical oncologist and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). Dr Dua trained in Internal medicine and Medical oncology in Australia as part of FRACP before completing a clinical fellowship in drug development, early phase trials and thoracic malignancies at the Guy’s Hospital, London (UK), and the Sarah Cannon Research Institute (UK). Thoracic malignancies – including lung cancer, mesothelioma and thymoma – continue to be of special clinical interest to Dr Dua. He also has particular interest in the treatment of Genitourinary malignancies – especially prostate cancer, malignant melanoma, CNS tumors and breast cancer. Dr Dua has also involved in clinical research in the field of geriatric oncology “cancer in the older people” services as part of his role as medical oncologist. Dr Dua has published several articles in peer reviewed international journals. He is actively involved in teaching and research through his current affiliation with the Monash rural medical school. His past academic affiliations include the Australian National University, Canberra. University of Adelaide, Flinders University, Monash Rural school of Medicine in Australia and King’s College London. MS KELLI MITCHENER, DIRECTOR QUALITY & LEARNING SERVICES Kelli is a registered nurse with a passion for quality, risk and governance. She began her nursing career in Melbourne spending 13 years in Intensive Care at Austin Health. During that time Kelli also gained experience through project roles; in clinical governance, resuscitation, quality improvement, rapid response systems and service development. Kelli moved into a variety of roles related to trauma, simulation and exercise training, and process redesign including time at the Office of the Emergency Services Commissioner, the Department of Health and Human Services and NSW Health. Kelli is a specialist reservist in the Royal Australian Air Force and deployed to Afghanistan in active operations. Kelli has a Bachelor of Science (Nursing), a Diploma of Critical Care Nursing, a Master of Enterprise, and is a member of the Australian College of Nursing. ANNUAL REPORT ANNUAL REPORT 23/24 ROOM OPTIONS SERVICES WE OFFER RESPITE SERVICES JHF McDonald Wing Aged Care provides respite care to eligible persons. Eligible persons are entitled to 9 weeks (63 nights) of respite per financial year. There are respite beds available which provide the same level of service as permanent care. Fees and charges are as specified by the Department of Health & Ageing. EMERGENCY RESPITE JHF McDonald Wing Aged Care can at times support emergency respite depending on bed availability. We work closely with acute and community health services to support the needs of our aged population. PERMANENT CARE The facility offers care with ageing in place to meet the needs of the residents of Maffra District and beyond. JHF McDonald Wing Aged Care offers quality, individualised care to our residents. Staff are proud of our friendly, pleasant environment and the manner in which our residents are respected and supported. Individualised personal care is planned and delivered through continued consultation and review of personal care needs and choices. Family consultation occurs regularly as indicated or requested. Resident health and comfort is enhanced through the provision of more specialised care as indicated. This includes care such as physiotherapy, speech therapy, palliative care, dementia care, occupational therapy, wound management and more. Residents can choose their doctor of choice in Maffra from either of two local clinics. This needs to be confirmed prior to admission. Local Medical support ensures 24 hour, 7 day per week access to a GP for emergency and also periodic review as indicated. All resident medication must be presented in Webster packs (Unit Dose 7). Resident lifestyle is supported through our Diversional Therapist and volunteer team who offer various activities, events and personal programs to support individual and groups of residents. RESIDENTIAL INREACH Better@Home services aim to deliver more specialised care closer to home and in the persons setting of choice. As one of the Better@Home services, Residential In Reach provides specialist assessment services by a Nurse Consultant, to people living in Residential Aged Care Facilities, which in turn, prevents avoidable presentations to the Hospital Emergency Department. Residential In Reach Nurse Consultants may visit and provide this specialist care; which is done in partnership with the Facility staff and the persons own General Practitioner. It is a team approach to supporting care in that persons’ setting of choice – Better@Home! If the person requires hospital admission, this decision is made with the person and their care team. Residential In Reach is NOT an emergency service. TELEHEALTH We embrace innovative solutions to enhance the care we provide to our residents, including the use of telehealth services. This technology allows us to connect residents with specialist healthcare professionals remotely, ensuring timely consultations and ongoing medical support without the need for travel.     ADDICTION AND HARM REDUCTION SERVICE Addiction and Harm Reduction Service Supporting those within the Wellington Shire Community who have issues with alcohol and substance use. The AOD Harm Reduction Service is here to assist those with AOD dependency, or addiction, whilst promoting harm reduction strategies that will contribute to improved health for the individual and the community. Available to all within the community, there are three main services provided: Provision of Needle and Syringe products. Addiction Recovery support. Promotion of good sexual health Needle And Syringe Program (NSP) CGH Community Services provides, free of charge, a range of NSP equipment that helps to prevent the spread of Blood Borne Viruses such as Hepatitis C. This includes fit packs, sharps disposal containers and a wide range of specific barrels and needles. The full range of equipment is available on request from the Community Services 1st floor reception office during office hours (Mon – Fri 8.30am – 4.30pm). Fit packs are available 24/7 from the free of charge vending machine, along with a sharps disposal machine, close to the main entrance of the Community Services building. Out of office hours fit packs are also available on request from the Emergency Department reception. Addiction Recovery Support CGH Community Services run a Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART) Recovery meeting every Wednesday afternoon from 1.30 – 3.30pm. This is held in the conference room on the ground floor of Community Services building. No referral is required to join this support group which is facilitated by an AOD qualified staff member. The aim is to support those going through the addiction recovery process and to help prevent relapse for those who have been able to reduce or stop their substance or alcohol intake. Promotion of Good Sexual Health This service aims to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infection within the community by providing condoms free of charge. These can be obtained at the reception offices of Community Services, Central Gippsland Health (CGH) Emergency Department and Sale Mental Health Services. Eligible persons are entitled to 9 weeks (63 nights) of respite per financial year. There are respite beds available which provide the same level of service as permanent care. Fees and charges are as specified by the Department of Health & Ageing. EMERGENCY RESPITE Wilson Lodge Aged Care can at times support emergency respite depending on bed availability. We work closely with acute and community health services to support the needs of our aged population. PERMANENT CARE The facility offers care with ageing in place to meet the needs of the residents of Sale District and beyond. Wilson Lodge Aged Care offers quality, individualised care to our residents. Staff are proud of our friendly, pleasant environment and the manner in which our residents are respected and supported.
