  • Graduate Applications & Interviews | Central Gippsland Health

    GRADUATE REGISTERED NURSES / MIDWIVES - APPLICATIONS & INTERVIEWS At CGH we believe that our personalised approach sets us apart when supporting our Graduates and staff. We have one small cohort of Graduate Registered Nurses / Graduate Registered Midwives who commence their program in February each year. The computer match process is a two-part application process, all eligible students will first need to register with the Post Graduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) and submit their list of hospital preferences. Following this, each applicant will then need to submit an application directly to each hospital on their preference list. PMCV Match opens Monday 2nd June 2025 at 10:00am, closes Wednesday 2nd July at 17:00. Face to face interviews will take place at CGH between Monday 21st July and Friday 7th August 2025. Zoom interviews can be arranged via special request. APPLICATIONS: PART ONE - PMCV: CGH complies with the PMCV Computer Matching process. At CGH we understand that interviews can be daunting, and we try to make it as nice as possible for you. Our interviews consist of a 30-minute panel interview in which there are 2-3 interviewers (Graduate Nurse and Midwifery Program Coordinator (GNMP), NUMs, HR representatives etc) and yourself.     HINTS & TIPS Make your application personal Where possible use examples when addressing the key selection criteria Make sure you know what your referees are going to say about you (there’s nothing wrong with asking) Make sure you address all documentation to the correct hospital Ensure that all requested documentation is uploaded Get yourself known, email the Graduate Nurse Midwifery Program Coordinator and ask questions about the program If you don’t usually wear jewellery, avoid wearing it to an interview because you will fiddle with it Try to relax the interviews aren’t as scary as you think they are, be yourself Do some research about the hospital before your interview and know about the Graduate Nursing /Midwifery program you are applying for If you are nervous about your interview, google nursing interview questions and practice your responses with friends or a family member Attend an information session to hear more about the program Find the program that is the right fit for you Remember you are only starting out your career ask yourself: Has it got enough support? Are there rotations that interest you? How many study days do they offer? Will I see or hear from my graduate coordinator? How big is the cohort size? What is the retention rate after the graduate year? What EFT are they offering? Will this program fit with my life i.e family, children etc?

  • Outpatient Clinics | Sale Hospital | Central Gippsland Health

    SPECIALIST OUTPATIENT CLINICS DIALYSIS The Dialysis Unit, a satellite centre for St Vincent’s Hospital, provides haemodialysis for people in Central and East Gippsland as well as visitors to the region. There is an emphasis on education and training of patients and staff, and involvement in community health awareness programs. To enquire about regular or holiday dialysis, contact staff on 03 5143 8170 . ONCOLOGY The Oncology Department operates within the hospital to provide support and administer chemotherapy treatments to patients. It works in close association with the Medical Unit, Central Gippsland Health Palliative Care Services, and the Gippsland Regional Integrated Cancer Service. A palliative care facility located in the Medical Unit is available to patients who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness, where family and carers who wish to continue caring for the patient receive appropriate nursing support. PHARMACY The Pharmacy Department is staffed by pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. The department is open from 8.30am until 5pm Monday to Friday, with an on-call pharmacist providing after hours and weekend services. The wide range of services offered include: Imprest drug distribution Clinical ward pharmacy services IV additives and Parental Nutrition Cytotoxic drug preparations e.g. chemotherapy Radiopharmaceutical preparations Drug information Drug trials Outpatient dispensing Medical and nursing staff education Support pharmacy services to smaller hospitals and private hostels PATHOLOGY (PROVIDED BY DOREVITCH PATHOLOGY) The Pathology Department provides a range of diagnostic tests to both inpatient and community based patients. The department is open for outpatients from 8am – 5pm, Monday to Friday. An after hours ‘on-call’ service is provided to the hospital.

    SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM MS MANDY PUSMUCANS, INTERIM CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER Mandy is a registered nurse with additional qualifications in rural health and business management. Following a working life that commenced in Gippsland, Mandy worked in Melbourne hospitals, rural Victoria and then on to remote Australia, which included living and working in both remote Aboriginal communities in Central Australia and the main centre of Alice Springs. Mandy’s work has focused on social justice and equity of access for rural and remote communities, with particular focus on Aboriginal Australians. Mandy has been both an executive officer and then Board member of the Council of Remote Area Nurses Australia, a participant on the Council of the National Rural Health Alliance, and a member of the Royal College of Nursing Australia. DR TRACY MCCONNELL-HENRY, ACTING DIRECTOR OF NURSING Tracy is a registered nurse with a clinical background in critical care and organ donation. Her dedication to critical care nursing has seen her hold posts as clinical educator and resuscitation coordinator before being recruited to Monash University to develop the curriculum and coordinate the Critical Care program, delivering it across south east Victoria, to both regional and tertiary health services, as well as adaptions in the Masters programs in South Africa, Hong Kong, Malaysia and PNG. In addition to her teaching commitments Tracy immersed herself in research, publishing and presenting, primarily in the areas of phenomenology, rural nursing issues and decision making in the deteriorating patient. Additionally, she has been a peer reviewer on several international professional journals and a higher degree examiner. Tracy has a Bachelor of Nursing, Graduate Diploma of Nursing (Critical Care), Masters of Health Science (Nursing Education) and PhD by full publication. She has also previously been an Adjunct Research Fellow at Monash University, Tracy is driven to continue to strive for excellence in nursing care, motivated by the desire to have CGHS a place staff are proud to work and somewhere we choose to have our families and community cared for. DR DIVYANSHU DUA, DIRECTOR MEDICAL SERVICES (FRACP, FAGE) Dr Divyanshu ‘Divy’ Dua is Director of Medical Services at the Central Gippsland Health Service. Additionally, he is a visiting medical oncologist at the Latrobe Regional Health Service. He also holds the clinical dean position with the Monash Rural, Sale campus. A consultant medical oncologist and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). Dr Dua trained in Internal medicine and Medical oncology in Australia as part of FRACP before completing a clinical fellowship in drug development, early phase trials and thoracic malignancies at the Guy’s Hospital, London (UK), and the Sarah Cannon Research Institute (UK). Thoracic malignancies – including lung cancer, mesothelioma and thymoma – continue to be of special clinical interest to Dr Dua. He also has particular interest in the treatment of Genitourinary malignancies – especially prostate cancer, malignant melanoma, CNS tumors and breast cancer. Dr Dua has also involved in clinical research in the field of geriatric oncology “cancer in the older people” services as part of his role as medical oncologist. Dr Dua has published several articles in peer reviewed international journals. He is actively involved in teaching and research through his current affiliation with the Monash rural medical school. His past academic affiliations include the Australian National University, Canberra. University of Adelaide, Flinders University, Monash Rural school of Medicine in Australia and King’s College London. MS KELLI MITCHENER, DIRECTOR QUALITY & LEARNING SERVICES Kelli is a registered nurse with a passion for quality, risk and governance. She began her nursing career in Melbourne spending 13 years in Intensive Care at Austin Health. During that time Kelli also gained experience through project roles; in clinical governance, resuscitation, quality improvement, rapid response systems and service development. Kelli moved into a variety of roles related to trauma, simulation and exercise training, and process redesign including time at the Office of the Emergency Services Commissioner, the Department of Health and Human Services and NSW Health. Kelli is a specialist reservist in the Royal Australian Air Force and deployed to Afghanistan in active operations. Kelli has a Bachelor of Science (Nursing), a Diploma of Critical Care Nursing, a Master of Enterprise, and is a member of the Australian College of Nursing. MS PELE REEVE, DIRECTOR COMMUNITY & ALLIED HEALTH SERVICES Pele Reeve is a passionate and values-driven leader with over a decade of experience in aged care, health service delivery, and community wellbeing. Beginning her career as a physiotherapist, Pele has worked across a wide range of roles in the healthcare sector, progressing into senior leadership positions. As Director of Community and Allied Health at Central Gippsland Health, she is committed to creating a workplace culture where staff feel safe, valued, and empowered—leading to exceptional care outcomes for the community. With deep expertise in stakeholder engagement, healthcare regulation, service transformation, and team development, Pele brings a strategic yet people-centred approach to improving community health. MS MEGAN TYLER, DIRECTOR AGED CARE SERVICES Megan is passionate about providing the highest standard of care and quality of life to older people. She has worked across many areas of the health sector including the acute hospital setting, community care, specialist care and subacute care. Megan holds a Bachelor of Nursing from Monash University and prior to her role with Central Gippsland Health, was the General Manager at Lyrebird Village - Respect Aged Care in Drouin where she managed multiple teams and up to 118 aged care beds. MR ROBERT STRICKLAND, DIRECTOR CORPORATE SERVICES Robert has more than 20 experience in corporate services and senior executive roles in government, not for profit and private organisations across a broad range of industries including, primary health care, power generation, mining, construction, and port logistics industries. Robert is a Certified Practicing Accountant with CPA Australia and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors as well as holding a Bachelor of Business. Prior to his appointment at Central Gippsland Health, Robert held executive level roles with YFS Ltd, Western Health Alliance Limited (trading as Western NSW PHN), Marathon Health Ltd, Golding Contractors Ltd, Gladstone Ports Corporation, and Loy Yang Power.
