CGH celebrates nursing

8 February 2025

The dedication and hard work of 55 38 Central Gippsland Health Nurses was celebrated at the annual ‘Nursing Celebration Day’.

The occasion recognises the achievements of Nurses who have completed their Graduate Year Program, Transition to Speciality Program or Postgraduate Nursing Studies.

This year’s event also included recognition of 22 nursing staff who had received the Bill and Mavis Jennings Trust Scholarship over the past few years. The scholarship, offered through the Rotary Club of Sale, supports local Nursing Students to complete their Nursing studies.

These 22 nurses had since then worked at Central Gippsland Health. Due to disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic, several recipients had not yet received their scholarship plaques and were acknowledged retrospectively. Rotary Club representatives, Mike Smith, Adrian Rijs and President Colin Adams, spoke at the event and presented the plaques.

CGH Director of Nursing, Mandy Pusmucans, welcomed the inclusion of the Scholarship presentations in the annual event, noting the value of recognising and supporting emerging nursing professionals within the local community.

“We look forward to partnering with Rotary to include this presentation into our ‘Nursing Celebration Day’ in the future,” Ms Pusmucans said.
