Central Gippsland Health has a new oncology chair to support patients undergoing cancer treatment, thanks to a generous donation from the Aircraft Ground Operations Team and the Friends of CGH.

Members of the Aircraft Ground Operations Team presented the funds raised from the 2024 and 2026 airshows to the Friends group toward the cost of a new oncology chair.

Team Leader, Ron Gregory, said the donation came from the airshow organisers on behalf of volunteers who donated their time to ensure the airshows ran smoothly.

“This year’s donation of the oncology chair is in memory of Jean Phillips, the wife of our volunteer air traffic controller, Des Phillips,” Mr Gregory said.

CGH Chief Executive Officer, Michele Gardner, thanked both groups for the donation and assured the chair would be much appreciated by oncology unit patients.

“In hospitals and medical facilities, oncology treatments are often easier and more convenient to administer while the patient is in a chair rather than a bed,” she said. “These chairs are specially designed to allow for the quick and comfortable treatment of patients.

“We are extremely grateful to all the members of the Aircraft Ground Operations Team and the Friends group for the donation.”
