Volunteers were acknowledged and celebrated at a High Tea organised by Central Gippsland Health and the Royal Flying Doctor Service as part of National Volunteers Week.

Held at the Community Building at Sale Hospital, the volunteers included members of the East Gippsland Dog Obedience Club, who bring their therapy dogs into all CGH aged care homes; Maffra Hospital Auxiliary members; CGH Social Support Group members; the CGH Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Network Committee; and CGH community transport drivers.

There were also volunteers who assist at all CGH aged care facilities, in the Dialysis Unit, Oncology, Community Services and the CGH library project.

The “Singing Ukes”, who regularly perform for CGH aged care residents, performed for guests.

Wellington Shire Council Mayor, Cindy Madeley, attended together with CGH Chief Executive Officer, Michele Gardner, CGH Director of Community and Allied Health, Pele Reeve, CGH Director of Medical Services, Divy Dua and representatives from the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Ms Gardner said CGH was excited to celebrate the incredible army of local volunteers as part of National Volunteer Week.

“Our volunteers embody the very best of our region,” she said. “Thank you to each and everyone volunteer who gives their time, energy and your kindness to support patients, aged care residents, families and staff. We are truly better because of you.”
