Three new appointments at Central Gippsland Health Service (CGHS) will boost capabilities and drive continued growth in the Wellington region.

The new recruits have brought their extensive skills to the surgical, obstetric and paediatric departments, reaffirming CGHS’s capacity as a ‘one stop shop’ for quality healthcare.

Mr Radha Nair has been appointed Senior Consultant Surgeon and Surgical Head of Unit at the Sale Hospital. Mr Nair studied Medicine in India before attaining his Surgical Fellowship in both India and the United Kingdom. He continued to work internationally before taking on the role of Senior Consultant Surgeon at Alice Springs Hospital in the Northern Territory. During this time, he attained his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Mr Nair has a broad spectrum of surgical expertise in trauma, laparoscopic surgery, thyroid, breast and emergency vascular procedures including hernia, gallbladder, varicose veins and skin lesions.

Dr Radha Pandian joins the CGHS team as Obstetrician. She obtained her primary medical degree and post graduate diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in India. Dr Pandian has over 20 years’ experience having worked in the United Kingdom, Singapore, Hong Kong and India before settling in Australia in 2014. Her special interests include pelvic floor repair and the treatment of pre-invasive cervical cancer.

South African born, Dr Stephan Reid, joins CGHS as Paediatrician. He completed his primary medical degree at the University of Pretoria, School of Medicine before establishing a regional private practice in South Africa. Dr Reid’s special interests are in Neonatology and Paediatric Cardiology, but having worked in a regional setting, he is experienced in a wide range of general paediatrics.

In welcoming the new appointments, CGHS Chief Executive Officer, Dr Frank Evans, said he was excited at the direction the health service was moving.

“I’m delighted to announce these new staff appointments which will enable us to improve our efficiencies, broaden our skills and maximise the output and capabilities of our services to the community,” he explained. “The new additions are all highly experienced and bring first class skills and capabilities to the entire CGHS team.”
